Dampa Tiger Reserve is in Western Mizoram.
It covers an area of 500 square kilometer over Lushai Hills at an altitude range of 800–1,100 m (2,600–3,600 ft).
But hold on, this isn’t your average tiger reserve, it’s a jungle gym of steep precipitous hills, deep valleys, jungle streams, ripping rivulets, and natural salts licks.
And let me tell you, it’s not easily accessible, unlike other parks where you can ride on a four-wheeler, you’ll have to walk through the forest if you want to sight animals.
In the tiger census of 2018, no tiger was found in this reserve, but in recent years, a tiger was spotted after seven years of absence. Though, they could be crossing the border to Bangladesh without any papers !
So, if you want to explore, this adventurous place, do visit Dampa.
