If you’re planning to visit Ranikhet in India, then a visit to the Chaubatia Orchards is a must-do!

Known for its apples, plums, peaches, and apricots, this place is a paradise for fruit lovers. But that’s not all, the panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges will leave you awestruck. And don’t forget to stop by the Government Apple Garden and the Fruit Research Centre situated close by – you might just learn a thing or two about fruit!

I visited the orchard in winter, so it wasn’t as green as it would have been in the summers. But it was still a nice relaxing place, perfect for a short walk. And I even spotted more birds here than I did in the Binsar forest!

But hey, there was a private shop selling jams, pickles, herbs, pulses, and souvenirs on the way from the tea stall to the gate. It was a large shop. On the way back, one can stop at the Mata Jhula Devi temple

All in all, the Chaubatia Orchards are a beautiful place to visit. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even trek to the Bhalu Dam, passing through lush jungles with a guide. And don’t forget to shop for jams and marmalade before you leave. It’s definitely worth a half-day trip when in Ranikhet.
