Bhaskareswara Temple is an ancient temple in Bhubaneshwar in Odisha.

It boasts a nine-foot-tall Shivalinga, making it the largest in Bhubaneswar and one of the biggest in the entire state of Odisha. And let’s not forget about its unique structure, which resembles a Buddhist Stupa. Talk about fusion architecture!

Unlike most Kalinga-style temples, there is no Jagamohana (prayer hall) in Bhaskareswara Temple.

The temple’s exterior is simple yet elegant, with only a few parshvadevatas (side deities) decorating its walls. And if you’re looking for some greenery, the temple is situated in the middle of a beautifully landscaped park with flowering plants and huge trees. It’s the perfect spot for a peaceful stroll or a brisk jog.

And let’s not forget about Lord Shiva’s trusty steed, Nandi, who stands guard in front of the western entrance. He’s like the bouncer of the temple, making sure only the worthy get to enter the lord’s abode.

So what are you waiting for? Come visit the Bhaskareswara Temple and witness the fusion of ancient architecture and modern landscaping.
