Bankapura Fort is near the Banakpur town in Haveri district of Karnataka. The fort is roughly 50 kilometers away from Hubli. The fort now in ruins, has a mosque and the famous Nagreshwara Temple, which 66 pillars carved out of grey stone. The fort is considered to be built during Kadamba Dynasty. in the early 5th century, and one of the oldest fort in Karnataka. Besides, the fort is also the sanctuary covered area for peacocks. One is sure to sight a few peacocks during the visit here.
