Ambarnath Temple is an hidden gem in Maharashtra.

Located just 5 km away from Ulhasnagar Railway Station, this ancient temple is a popular religious shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The best part it has stunning unique Hemadpanthi-style architecture carved out of black basalt stone.

As you enter the temple complex, be ready to be awestruck by the beautiful images of Lord Shiva in different moods, including his renowned dancing pose. And don’t forget to spot the statue of Nandi Bull located at the center of the main porch of the temple.

The garbhagriha or the inner sanctum of the temple is below ground and open to the sky, which is a rare sight in itself. There are 20 steps which descends to reach the garbhagriha.

If you’re visiting Ambarnath Shiv Temple during the annual festival of Mahashivratri, you’re in for a treat. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm for four days, two days before and a day after Mahashivratri. So, grab a laddoo, join the crowd and have a blast!
