Akluj Fort is a fort located 115km from Solapur, in Solapur district, of Maharashtra.

First off, let’s just say that getting to this fort is a bit of a journey. The roads leading up to it are rough, bumpy, and will leave you feeling like you just rode a rodeo bull. But don’t let that deter you! Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the stunning views of the Nira River and the awe-inspiring Shiva Statue that towers above the fort.

The fort itself is a historical masterpiece that has been beautifully restored by the local people. The Mohite Patil family and the Shree Dinkarrao Thopte and Avinash Thopte have done an amazing job of bringing this fort back to life, and you can see the care and attention to detail in every corner of the structure.

As you explore the fort, you’ll be struck by the gorgeous fountains, flowers, and landscaping that adorn the grounds. And if you’re lucky, you’ll even be greeted by some friendly locals decked out in traditional garb!

One of the highlights of the fort is the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the watchtower in the middle. This is a majestic sight to cheer, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time to witness the glory of the Maratha Empire.

And if you’re a history buff, you’ll love the information on the walls that tell the story of Shivaji’s life, the formation of Swarajya, and the many forts built by this legendary leader. There’s even a hall that gives you an in-depth look at all the forts built by Shivaji, so you can really nerd out on your historical knowledge.

But perhaps the funniest part of the fort is the “Mavla” positions. These are the positions that soldiers took to protect the fort from enemies, and their expressions are priceless. Seriously, take a moment to appreciate the hilarity of these stone-faced soldiers staring down invisible enemies.

Overall, the Akluj Fort is a must-visit spot for anyone interested in history, humor, and adventure. Just make sure to hold on tight during the ride there!
