Tung Fort is a hill fort located in Pune District, India that was built before 1600 CE. It was originally built by the Adil Shahi dynasty, but was later captured by the legendary Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
It is a small fort that can only hold 200 troops. What’s so special about it? Well, let me tell you that size doesn’t always matter. Fun fact: The Dhamale family, one of the Deshmukh from the Maval region, was responsible for ensuring the security of Tung Fort. During an invasion, the fort served as a distraction for invaders so that the major forts of Visapur and Lohagad could prepare to meet the invading army. Sneaky, huh?
