Statue of Unity, is taller than the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and the Burj Khalifa? The Statue of Unity, is standing tall at a whopping 182 meters, making it the tallest statue in the world! It is in Gujarat.
The statue is a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, affectionately known as The Iron Man of India, and his vision for a united India. So if you’re a fan of patriotism, history, or just gigantic statues, this is definitely the place for you!
The monument compound is surrounded by a 12 km artificial lake and have a 3-star hotels, helipads, and improved rail systems. The Valley of Flowers, a beautiful garden with a museum and an audio-visual hall, showcasing the life and struggles of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also awaits you here.
And if that wasn’t enough, there’s even a laser show on the Unification of India, which sounds pretty awesome if you ask me.
The statue’s viewing gallery, located at an incredible height of nearly 400 feet, provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings. And for those environmentally conscious travelers out there, the monument will also provide ferry services to reduce the impact of vehicular pollution.
And let’s not forget about the construction of the statue, which was carried out by the Indian company Larson & Toubro and designed by Indian sculptor, Ram Vanji Sutar. The Iron needed for the project was supposed to be collected from used farming equipment from farmers all around the nation, who were cared for by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. Unfortunately, there were some hiccups, and the iron collected was used for a different part of the project instead of the statue.
