Snow View Point is a popular spot in Nainital, where you can witness the mighty Himalayas draped in a blanket of milky-white snow and enjoy some fun activities around the area.

At an altitude of 2270 meters above sea level, Snow View Point offers a panoramic view of the beautiful town and all three important peaks- Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Kot peaks. It’s like witnessing snow-covered mountain tops emerging from clouds, offering different shades of sunlight and a mirror-like glare from far away.

But wait, there’s more! A huge pair of binoculars is installed at the Snow View Point that allows you to take a closer look at the Himalayan range and its magical peaks. And if you zoom in, you’ll find a small temple housing the images of Ram, Sita, Laxman, Hanuman with Durga and Shiva.

To reach the Snow View Point, you can either take a cab or hop on an aerial cable car from the Mall Road of Mallital. The cable car ride offers a scintillating view of the Naini lake and the entire mall road of the town. But be warned, the approach road to the pickup and drop-off point for the cable car is a little steep for about 150-200 meters. So, if you’re not feeling adventurous or fit enough, you can always hail a cab from the mall road and be briefed about other points in Nainital en route.

Once you reach the top of Snow View Point, apart from being mesmerized by the spectacular view, you can indulge in some fun activities. Two gun shooting stalls have been set up, and for INR 30, you get 6 chances to shoot at targets that have been hung up near and far. The best part? The guns are loaded with empty bullet shells, so no harm done! You can also enjoy other arcades and fair games for children where they can win different types of toys and goodies.

And if you’re feeling peckish after all that fun, worry not. An empty ground is flanked with shops that sell instant Maggi noodles of different types and flavors, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, candy floss, etc. Lounging on the benches and enjoying these small eats will go a long way in lifting your spirits.

The best time to visit the Snow View Point in Nainital is during summers when the temperatures range between a low of 10 degrees Celsius and a high of 27 degrees Celsius. The skies are bright blue and very clear which allows you to enjoy an unrestricted view of the Himalayas. However, if you want to witness a crystal-clear view of the magnanimous Himalayas in all their glory, winters would be a good time too. Just be prepared for the cold weather!

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, grab your camera and head out to Snow View Point for a snow-tastic adventure!
