Siyali Mahadev Temple is one of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Manali!

This place of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva is not just a hotspot for devotees, but also a must-visit for those who appreciate stunning architecture and natural beauty.

As you approach the temple from afar, the unique wooden structure amidst the picturesque natural landscape of Manali will astound you. The rich brown colour of the temple and the flourishing vegetation, coupled with mesmerizing streams in the background, make for a captivating sight.

The tranquil environment maintained around the temple premises, surrounded by mountain peaks and tall pine trees, will calm troubled souls in an instant. And the fact that the temple isn’t as crowded as the nearby Hadimba Temple means you can visit anytime without worrying about the crowds.

But before you head over, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Traditional clothing is a must if you plan on performing poojas, so it’s advisable to check with the priest for the details. And of course, follow temple rules like removing footwear while entering the temple.

When you arrive, you’ll see that the temple has a sturdy foundation of stone and cement, topped by a wooden structure that is a beautiful blend of chalets and pagodas. The pagoda has four levels, with two smaller levels located on one side instead of the centre, adding to the temple’s unique charm. And the wooden railings around the porch area, supported by countless smaller carved wooden legs, make for a truly eye-catching sight.

Inside the shrine, you’ll find a self-manifested Shivalinga, and according to legend, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared on earth from a tree trunk where the smaller temple is now built.

To reach Siyali Mahadev Temple, take the Hadimba Temple road in Manali, which is about a 10-minute ride from Mall Road. Auto-rickshaws and rented two-wheelers or motorbikes are the best modes of transport, as the road leading to the temple is narrow. If you rent a taxi, you’ll have to walk from the point where the road narrows, as it’s difficult to drive bigger vehicles up there.

So pack your bags, put on your traditional attire, and get ready for a divine experience amidst stunning natural beauty at Siyali Mahadev Temple in Manali!
