Saptrishi Ashram is in Haridwar.

Founded in 1943 by Guru Goswami Dutt, this ashram offers a tranquil escape perfect for meditation and yoga. It’s even said that the river Ganges herself split into seven streams so as not to disturb the seven sages who were meditating here.

Legend has it that the sages Kashyapa, Vashisht, Atri, Vishwamitra, Jamadagi, Bharadwaja and Gautam were all hanging out at Saptrishi Ashram when they got annoyed by the noise of the Ganga river. So they asked Mother Ganga to quiet down a bit, and she obliged by splitting into seven currents, now known as Sapt Sarovar.

Today, Saptrishi Ashram continues to attract spiritual seekers and yoga lovers from all over the world. And not only does it offer lodging and meals, but it also provides free education for underprivileged children. So you can get your meditation on while doing good for others.

If you’re ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, head to Saptrishi Ashram. Located just five kilometers from Haridwar, you can easily get there by bus or taxi.
