Sankat Mochan Temple, where problems go to take a hike and Hanuman reigns supreme!

Located on the banks of the picturesque River Assi, this ancient temple is a must-visit spot for all you pilgrimage enthusiasts out there !

The idol of Lord Hanuman, facing Lord Rama with unbridled devotion, is the highlight of this sacred shrine. And did you know that this is where Tulsidas wrote Ramcharitmanas? That’s right, folks! This is the spot where the great sage found his muse and created one of the most revered pieces of literature in Hinduism.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays, this place is overflowing with devotees, and the besan ke laddus being offered up are enough to make your mouth water. And if you’re here in April, you can witness the Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh, a classical dance and music festival that draws artists from all over the country.

But be warned! The temple’s got some rules that you need to follow. After a terrorist attack, no electronics are allowed inside, so leave your phones and smartwatches in the car or use the locker facility at the entrance. And no photography, please!

The temple is also home to an old tree that has stood the test of time, and you don’t want to miss that. And if you’re lucky, you might just spot some silver on the black tiles around the temple. And when it’s time to leave, you can pick up some prasad and flowers from the temple-owned shop. Trust us, the quality is way better than what you get outside.

So what are you waiting for? Come visit the Sankat Mochan Temple, where Lord Hanuman rules and problems vanish into thin air!
