Mrugavani National Park is located in the slightly remote region of Chilkur, this park is the perfect weekend getaway for locals and tourists alike from Hyderabad.

With a whopping 600 species of animals and plants, the park is like a mini jungle that was declared a National Park only in 1994. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to go on a jungle safari or indulge in some birdwatching. And, if you’re feeling a little tired, take a break and relax in the jungle resort amidst nature.

The park boasts more than just its flora and fauna, with a tall tower that offers mesmerising views of the wildland below. You’ll get to see everything from sandalwood to bamboo to rosewood to teak and neem trees, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a leopard, monitor lizard, wild boar, fox, jackal, civet cat, black-naped hare, mongoose, or porcupine!

And let’s not forget about the avian fauna! With over 600 species of birds, this park is a birdwatcher’s paradise. You can spot some commonly seen birds like ducks, peacocks, and quails, but there are also some rare and beautiful birds like babblers, warblers, partridges, and flowerpeckers.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to wander around the park on foot. You can hop on a safari bus that takes up to 50 passengers at a time for only INR 20 per person. Just make sure to follow the driver’s guidelines on how to behave in the park.

Once you’re done exploring, there are plenty of facilities to enjoy within the park. Take a stroll through the well-stocked library, education centre, museum, or auditorium. And don’t miss the chance to get a bird’s eye view of the entire forest from the tall watchtower.

For those wanting to stay longer, you can even book accommodations like tents, cottages, or dormitories inside the park. And reaching the park is a breeze, with several direct buses from Hyderabad and easy access from the Chilkur Balaji temple.

So, if you’re in or around Hyderabad, don’t miss out on the chance to experience the wild side of Mrugavani National Park. Who knows, you might just leave feeling like the king of the jungle!
