Mechuka is located in Arunachal Pradesh, this small town is nestled high above sea level in the Mechuka valley. and guess what? It’s home to exotic tribes like Memba, Ramo, Bokar and Libo – so you’ll definitely have some fascinating stories to tell your friends when you get back home!

Now, let me tell you the literal meaning of Men-chu-kha – “medicinal water of snow.” You heard that right! Men means medicine, chu means water, and kha means snow, although kha also means mouth. So, in other words, the locals here believe that the snow has healing powers, and who are we to argue with that?

One of the main attractions in Mechuka is a 400-year-old Buddhist Monastery, located at the top of a hill. And let me tell you, the view from up there is simply breathtaking! You’ll be able to see the beauty of River Siyom (locally known as Yargyap Chu) and the lush green valley below.

But that’s not all, folks! You can also live with the locals and treat your taste buds with their local cuisine. Fishing and agriculture are the main sources of livelihood, so you can expect some fresh fish and vegetables on your plate. And if you’re lucky enough to visit during the Losar festival in February or the Mopin Festival in April, you’ll be able to witness some of the most colorful celebrations you’ve ever seen!

One can also indulge in trekking and hiking over high mountains, go for rafting and angling in the River Siyom, and even camp in the greens for a peaceful getaway. And if you’re worried about how to get there, don’t sweat it. From Khonsa, you can take a jeep or gypsy, or better yet, hire a private taxi for a relaxing tour. Just avoid the local APRTC buses unless you’re in the mood for some overcrowded adventures!

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, grab your camera, and head over to Mechuka – the forgotten paradise on earth!
