Welcome to the Mama Bhanja Temple, where spirituality and architecture blend perfectly like salt and pepper! This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Barsur, Chhattisgarh has a unique name that sounds more like a pair of superheroes than two family members. Mama and Bhanja took on the task of building the temple, and surprisingly finished it in a day!

The temple stands tall at fifty feet, and the curvilinear shikara above it looks like it’s doing its job of protecting the structure from the weather and time. The mandapa, on the other hand, has suffered the torment of both over the years. But don’t let that discourage you from visiting. Mama Bhanja Temple is a true representation of the temple architecture of the Naga dynasty, complete with beautiful carvings of foliage, lotuses, and other intricate designs.

The temple’s artistic significance is heightened by the beautiful lintel that has a carved image of Lord Ganesha. This temple is not only a place of worship, but also a feast for the eyes. And if that’s not enough, the temple has its own share of myths and legends associated with it.

If you’re in Barsur, Dantewada district, and want to experience some unique temple architecture and soak in some spiritual vibes, Mama Bhanja Temple is the place to go. The temple is open from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
