Lakh Bahosi Bird Sanctuary is spread over two jheels (shallow lakes) near the villages of Lakh and Bahosi (abt 4 km apart) in Kannauj district, Uttar Pradesh.
Nestled in the charming Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, this 80 square kilometer paradise is home to species from 49 out of the 97 genera found in India. It’s not just birds that you’ll find here, but also creatures like jackals, blue bulls, mongooses, fishing cats, and monkeys that call this place home.
The drive to the sanctuary is nothing short of breathtaking, and with the help of Google Maps and the friendly locals, you won’t get lost on the way. And, once you reach the Interpretation Centre, the staff will be more than happy to give you a brochure and guide you through your journey.
If you’re planning to stay the night, the night stay facility is just a stone’s throw away from the Interpretation Centre, but be sure to book in advance through UP tourism Office in Lucknow. And, while you’re there, bring along some snacks as there are no restaurants in the area. But, don’t worry, temporary food stalls and “thelas” come up from time to time. In fact, we saw a shop being constructed near the Interpretation Centre, so you can expect it to be a medium-sized Dhaba in the near future.
When it comes to bird-watching, the sanctuary is equipped with 2 sit-outs and 2 observation towers that are in good maintenance. Whether they’ll be of much help, we can’t say for sure, but the experience of being in the heart of nature is priceless.
So, what are you waiting for? Book your trip to the Lakh Bahosi Sanctuary now and get ready to experience the magic of nature and the joy of bird-watching like never before!
