Jog Water Falls also known locally as Gerosoppa Falls is one of the tallest 5 waterfalls in the world. It is a popular tourist spot and attracts several thousand tourist a day. It is located in the Shimoga and Uttara Kannada district border. It has excellent tourist facilities and is considered as UNESCO Heritage site.
It is considered as the highest untiered waterfalls in India (it drops directly and does not stream on to rocks).
It is also the the second-highest plunge waterfall in India (after the Nohkalikai Falls).
