Jeolikot is an off-beat place in Nainital in Uttaranchal.

It’s only 7 km away from Nainital and it’s an absolute gem of a hill station! I mean, it’s surrounded by lush green forests, magnificent mountains, and pine forests. It’s like stepping into a nature-lover’s paradise!

And let me tell you, if you’re into floriculture and butterfly catching, this is THE place to be. The horticulture department maintains the area, and every year, visitors flock to see the flowers in bloom. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that?

And get this, even well-known philosophers like Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo spent a lot of time meditating around Jeolikot. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me!

But wait, it gets even better. Jeolikot has a bee-keeping center where they breed honeybees and extract honey. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a nature walk or go bird watching. Who knew there were so many cool things to do in Jeolikot?

And here’s a fun fact for you history buffs out there: Jeolikot was a favorite haunt of the British during colonial times. So, there are tons of cottages and hotels built in colonial style. You can even visit the house of Warwick Sahib, a retired major of the British army, or check out the bungalow of a woman believed to be a direct descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte. Talk about a history lesson!

But honestly, the best part about Jeolikot is the climate. It’s pleasant all year round, and the best time to visit is from April to June and September to October. It’s the perfect romantic getaway or vacation spot. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
