This museum is an absolute treasure trove of unique collectables from all over the state and country, all of which are influenced by the Pahari form of art. From ancient coins to paintings and handicraft items, you’re sure to find something that catches your eye. And if you’re a bookworm like me, then you’ll be delighted to know that the museum’s library houses around 10,000 books, magazines and journals! Talk about a book lover’s paradise!

But wait, there’s more! The museum also boasts a doll gallery filled with beautiful bride and groom dolls that are sure to make you smile. And if you’re a history buff, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are even archeological artefacts on display, including stone images from the 8th century!

But what really makes the Himachal State Museum stand out is its fascinating history. The museum is housed in an old Victorian mansion called ‘Inverarm’, which was carefully altered to adapt it to the museum. Inverarm was originally a small mud roofed house in the early 1860s and it was then enlarged.

Now, it’s a museum that offers visitors a glimpse into the early burial culture of the high mountain area of Himachal and specimens of rock art of Spiti. You can even see bricks, shells, beads and Paleolithic stone tools on display!

So what are you waiting for? Put on your best explorers hat and make your way to the Himachal State Museum!
