Are you looking for a place to take a leisurely stroll and soak up the beauty of Dalhousie? Despite its name, which translates to “Hot Road,” Garam Sadak is pedestrian-only street and a pleasant place to take a walk.
During the day, the road lives up to its name and gets hot due to direct sunlight, but don’t let that deter you! The warm temperature is perfect for a nature walk and the stunning trees lining the road provide some much-needed shade. At night, the road is absolutely gorgeous and a must-see for visitors to Dalhousie. Just be sure to bring a flashlight, as it can be a bit dark.
Garam Sadak connects two popular chowks in Dalhousie – Gandhi and Subhash Chowks – making it a great place for a quick jaunt. Plus, the road is adorned with a signboard that reads “walking is the trend in the knolls.” Who wouldn’t want to join that trend?
But fair warning – this road is quite long and not suitable for everyone. If you’re traveling with children or elderly folks, it might be best to skip the long trek and stick to a shorter distance. And if you start from Gandhi Chowk and realize the road is a bit too lonely or dark for your taste, you’ll have to cover the same distance to get back to your hotel.
Overall, Garam Sadak is a lovely spot for a peaceful stroll, but just be sure to plan accordingly and wear comfortable shoes!
