Gangtok Ropeway is a thrilling ride and one of the top things to do in Gangtok, and for good reason. You’ll be treated to a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the valley below. Just be prepared to wait in line for your turn, but trust us, the gorgeous views of the Kanchenjunga peaks are totally worth it.

Now, here’s the deal: there are no seats inside the cable car, so to get the best view, you gotta try and snag a standing seat next to the glass pane. It’s like a game of musical chairs, but with better views!

The ropeway is 2 km long and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. There are three terminal stations – Tashiling, Namnang, and Deorali. You can hop on or off at any of these stations, but we recommend starting at Deorali for the full experience.

And hey, did you know that the ropeway serves to de-congest the city? That’s right, folks, you can traverse two parts of the city using the ropeway alone. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. Or in this case, riding one cable car to see it all.

A few things to keep in mind: online tickets are only valid until 4:30 pm on the day of your journey. And if you’re a frequent flyer, so to speak, you can get a monthly pass for unlimited rides. Just make sure to collect it in person and bring 2 stamp-sized photos and a government-issued ID proof.

So come on, folks, hop aboard the Gangtok Ropeway and let’s soar high above the city. Just be sure to check the timings as they may be slightly adjusted depending on the weather.
