Dachigam National Park, is a lush green paradise in Jammu and Kashmir that has been stealing hearts for over a century now. With a rich history and a diverse range of flora and fauna, it is a popular tourist spot.

Spread across a whopping 141 square kilometers, this park is home to some of the rarest fauna you’ll ever encounter. The name “Dachigam” means “ten villages” in Kashmiri and is dedicated to the 10 villages that were relocated to make way for this magnificent park.

But what makes Dachigam so special? Well, it’s the only place in the country where you’ll find the endangered Kashmiri Stag, also known as Hangul, which is the only red deer species in India. Apart from that, the park also houses other majestic creatures like Snow Leopards, Red Foxes, Musk Deer, Himalayan Weasels, long-tailed marmots, blue magpie trotters, and yellow-throated martens.

If you’re an adventure enthusiast, Dachigam has got you covered. You can indulge in trekking while enjoying the spectacular views of the lofty hills surrounding the park.

Located just 22 kilometers away from the main town of Srinagar, this national park is perched at an altitude of 1700 to 4300 meters above sea level.
