Crystal Gallery, is located inside the Fateh Prakash Palace! It’s a place where Maharana Sajjan Singh’s dream comes alive. He had ordered the crystal artefacts from Birmingham-based F&C Osler firm in 1877, but alas, he didn’t live long enough to see the stunning artefacts delivered. In fact, it took 110 years for the artefacts to be opened and displayed in the gallery for the world to see!
The crystal gallery has everything from crystal fountains, dresses, dining tables, mirrored tabletops, washing bowls, sofa sets, perfume bottles, candle stands, crockery, and even a crystal bed. But the real showstopper is the jaw-dropping, jewel-encrusted carpet that’s sure to make you feel like royalty.
The Flora Danica service is another one of the unique pieces on display at the gallery. It’s an intricate and artistic collection of porcelain dinnerware, with each piece decorated with a specific plant, including its flower, leaves, stem, root, and fruit. You’ll be amazed at the attention to detail and the delicate brushstrokes that bring these pieces to life.
The Crystal Gallery is open from 9 am to 6:30 pm, and the entry fee is Rs.700 for adults and Rs.450 for children. And while you’re there, don’t forget to take advantage of the audio guide service available in English, French, German, and Spanish. But be warned – photography is strictly prohibited inside the gallery, so make sure you take in every moment with your own eyes!
Rumor has it that the collection was intentionally kept hidden from the common eye because of its sheer beauty and glamour. But now, you have the chance to explore this magical world of royal grandeur for yourself. So, make sure you visit the Crystal Gallery during your next trip to the Fateh Prakash Palace.
