Church of Saint Cajetan is located in Old Goa, close to the Se Cathedral. This church is a real gem that you just can’t afford to miss out on!

The church is named after St. Cajetan, who is the founder of the Theatine order, even though it is dedicated to Our Lady of Divine Providence. Constructed in the second half of the 17th century, this church is a part of the World Heritage Site, churches, and convents.

The Church of Saint Cajetan is the only surviving domed structure in Goa that reminds you of the majestic Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. The church is beautifully built in the Corinthian style both internally and externally, which gives it a unique look. You’ll be amazed to see the mosaic in the internal structure and the Baroque elements in the gilded altars.

Inside the church, you’ll find six altars in total, three on each side, and all of them are dedicated to different saints. The church has one main altar dedicated to Our Lady of Divine Providence, and the rest six have angelic figures dominating the twisted shafts. The beautiful paintings on the canvas of the altars depicting the life of St. Cajetan will leave you in awe.

The Church of Saint Cajetan is located about half a kilometer away from the Se Cathedral, near the ruins of Viceregal Palace in Old Goa. It’s just 11km away from the capital city of Panjim, and you can easily reach it by taking one of the local transport buses or using your own vehicle through the Ponte De Linhares Causeway.
