Sikkim, known for its rich flora and fauna that brings tourists from all over the world to this beautiful destination.
And if you’re a botany enthusiast, you’re in for a real treat!
Just 22km from Gangtok on the road to Rumtek Monastery, you’ll find the Botanical Garden.
This lush green paradise is a collection of over 1.5 lakh ornamental plants, including a huge collection of oak varieties. It’s like a botanical Disneyland!
The garden is located in a scenically blessed area and is surrounded by lofty mountains. It’s well maintained and the big selection of plants and flowers is thought to be the result of the variation of altitude from 1800 mts to 2200 mts.
There’s a huge greenhouse where different varieties of orchids are grown, and a small recreational area with a merry-go-round, swings, and see-saw for the kids.
One can take a relaxing walk – pondering about our mundane life – among the pine and oak trees taking in the beauty of the garden. To add more fun, there is boat rides available in the the lake.
