Bhalukpong is a little town in Arunachal Pradesh known for natural beauty.

The Kameng River that runs through the forest surrounding the town adds to its charm and makes it even more attractive. You can unleash your inner adventurer and make the most of hiking, trekking, camping, fishing, and even river rafting. And for those who prefer to take it easy, bird watching is an absolute treat here. You can spot exotic birds like tigers, elephants, and barking deer at the Pakhui game sanctuary.

If you’re in the mood for some spiritual enlightenment, Bomdila is just a stone’s throw away. The magnificent monasteries here will leave you awestruck, and the atmosphere around them is simply divine. And while you’re at it, make sure to visit the apple orchids too – they’re a sight to cheer. Adventure lovers can challenge their spirits with some trekking while fish angling is perfect for a more laid back day out.

And let’s not forget about the food! Bhalukpong has an array of delicious cuisines to offer, ranging from Indian to Chinese to Tibetan and Continental. But don’t miss out on the local cuisine, which is essentially Tibetan. Be sure to try the momos (dumplings filled with vegetables or boiled pork or meat), thukpa (a soup made of vegetables, minced meat, and noodles), zan (a dish made of millets and had with vegetables or meat and fermented cheese), khura (a type of pancake), and gyapa khazi (kind of rice pulao with fermented cheese, shrimp or dried fish and other spices).

You can easily explore Bhalukpong in just 1-2 days. On the first day, head out early to Bomdila, which is around 100 km from Bhalukpong. Spend the whole day there and don’t forget to visit the bamboo craft center. On the second day, start off by visiting the Pankhui Wildlife Sanctuary and make sure to catch the early morning safari. Don’t miss out on the Orchid Reserves and the Bhalukpong fort on your way back. And in the evening, be sure to hit up the local market for some scrumptious local cuisine.
