Basavaraja Durga Island Fort is now in ruins along the Arabian Sea near Honnavar in Karnataka. It is around 4 kilometers from the main land jetty at Honnavar. One can take a boat ride to view the fort. Normally, permission is given only during the Sankaranti festival in the month of January.
The fort island is a pristine one and a trip takes about 30 to 45 Minutes from Honnavar and 5 to 10 Minutes from Taribagilu village by sail. The landing place is at the southeastern part of the island, where there is an architectural entrance made by stones which was also the entrance to fort.
