Banjhakri Waterfalls is located about 10-12 kilometres from Gangtok, this two-acre Energy Park is home to an incredible 40-foot waterfall that will take your breath away.
As you explore the park, you’ll come across beautifully landscaped gardens, refreshing swimming pools, and plenty of rest stops where you can relax and take in the stunning scenery. And if you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of fun recreational activities to enjoy, too!
But what really sets Banjhakri Falls apart is its fascinating cultural history. According to local myth, the Banjhakri was a powerful traditional healer who lived in the forest and worshiped the spirits. Today, you’ll see stunning sculptures and figurines throughout the park that depict the rituals, healing ceremonies, and induction processes of the Jhakri culture.
Just make sure to bring a bigger vehicle, as the roads leading up to the waterfall can be a little bumpy!
Oh, and one more thing: don’t forget to visit between October and February, when the weather is just right for exploring this incredible destination.
