Balmuri Falls, is a human-made waterfall located at Srirangapatna that will have you wading in the water and capturing beautiful pictures!
But don’t be fooled by its name – this 6-foot cascade of water is actually a check dam over the Cauvery river, creating a relaxing and safe spot for a dip or a walk in the sparkling river water. Plus, with green coconut palms and trees adorning the shores, it’s no wonder this spot has been the backdrop for many song sequences in Kannada and Hindi films.
And why not make a day out of it? Balmuri Falls is the perfect spot for a picnic with your family or friends, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the surrounding greenery. Just be aware of when the water flow will be regulated, as sometimes the dam might be opened to release a sudden gush of water – not exactly the best time for a swim!
But fear not – there are plenty of other fun activities to enjoy at Balmuri Falls, including taking a boat ride down the smooth-flowing river and visiting the nearby ancient Ganesha temple. And with the falls only half an hour by car from Mysore and a 2.5-hour ride from Bangalore, it’s an easy and accessible spot to visit.
