Vattakottai Fort is a circular fort near Kanyakumari on the beach side. It was built during 18th century by Travancore kings as coastal defence. Now, the fort is under the control of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The fort has brilliant view of seaside as well as the ghats of Western ghats making it a popular tourist destination.
The fort spread across 3.5 acres of land and the walls are 25 feet high. The Vattakottai beach is also calm and a sandy beach for the visitors to enjoy quality time. It also has black sands in some part of the beach
