Anchuthengu Fort is a fort on Arabian Sea built by East India company in 17th century. It was one of the first few forts built by them and served as bastion during various wars.
Now, the place is in ruins and it is more of a bastion with laterite walls. It is roughly 30 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram. Anchuthengu – means five coconut trees in Malayalam. It is also locally known as Anjengo Fort.
There is also a light house which served the East India Company. The garden and the lighthouse are undisturbed, with some imagination one can view the British era in your eyes. The lighthouse can be visited only during 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM. The fort is small but well-maintained.
