Lakshmi Vilas Palace is a landmark in Vadodara in Gujarat. It was owned by the Gaekwads, the erstwhile rulers of Baroda state.
It is four times larger than Buckingham Palace and is touted as largest dwelling palace of the world of that era.
Major Charles Mant was credited to be the main architect of the palace and has elevators and modern gadgets.
It is styled on the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture, built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890 at a cost of £180,000 (₹27,00,000).
The palace has impressive paintings and grandeur are still a sight to behold!
