Varaha Temple is an ancient temple in Pushkar, Rajasthan.

Here, Lord Vishnu is worshipped in wild boar form.

Legend has it that Lord Vishnu transformed himself into a boar to save the world from the wrath of the demon Hiranyaksh. He fought for thousands of years and lifted the earth on his tusks, saving it from sinking into the cosmic ocean.

And let’s not forget about the temple’s history. It was built by King Anaji Chauhan in the 12th century AD, destroyed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, and then rebuilt in the 18th century by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur.

Today, the temple is a fortified structure with a 2-feet white idol of Lord Varaha in the sanctum sanctorum. Inside, you’ll find exquisite carvings, life-size statues of door men, and gold-styled pillars depicting Garuda, the mythical bird.

But the best part? The Varaha Temple is located in the holy town of Pushkar, which attracts thousands of devotees from across the country every year. So, not only can you witness ancient Hindu scriptures and stories come to life, but you can also immerse yourself in the spiritual energy of Pushkar.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out the temple’s timings – 6 AM – 12 PM & 4 PM – 8 PM. Happy travels!
